Fish Report

HADDOCK. COD. POLLOCK. AND MACKERAL! Monday 6-29-2009

All day fishing moved back to Jeffrys Ledge. A fair catch of haddock, cod and pollock. Nothing major. But, enough to keep interest.

Mackeral still running. Fishing over at the scenic Isles of Shoals. It's a great take in!

MACKERAL HOT! COD NOT! Saturday 6-27-2009

Junior said it sucked today. Not many cod, or hardly anything else. Very slow. LAst chance toget mackeral? Who knows how much longer these fish will hang around. All trips today were very good. Loads of mackeral. — Capt. Rocky Gauron

FAIR YESTERDAY. SAME TODAY Thursday 6-25-2009

The 12 hour marathon trip had a fair number of codfish. No real whoppas. It appears a new wave of fish have moved into the area. These fish are the male cod. About half the size as the females that were being caught last week. You can tell these fish are males. As soon as you bring the fish on board the boat. You get a nice surprise all over your clothes.

Same today. Fair number of cod. Some anglers had good numbers. But, the fish are much smaller.

SLOWER TODAY! Saturday 6-20-2009

Half day fishing was awful on the morning trip. The afternoon, it bounced back. They had some haddock, cod and cusk. A poor showing from the macks.

All day fishing? Junior gave it a fair/okay. They had some whopper cod up to 55 pounds, A couple in the 40 pound range. About a 3rd of numbers as yesterdays big catch.

Capt. Rocky Gauron

BIG DAY! BIG FISH! Friday 6-19-2009

Sounds like the best day yet. Still fishing at this time. If they went out today, the fisherman deserved a reward. I don't know how they ended up, but at 1:00pm, they had a boat load of big fish. Some early totals were 2 fish over 50 pounds, 12 in the 40's, 35 over 30 pounds and just about all the others were between 15 and 30 pounds.

2:30 UPDATE: The fish per person doesn't sound that impressive. 49 anglers, average of 7 per angler, but the Weight! At least 50 of the fish are over 30 pounds.
