GOOD ON ALL SPECIES! Friday 7-4-2008
The morning half day trip had another great catch of flounder. Seems like the mornings are the best bets for these flatties! Some macks if you wanted them too!
The afternoon trip was even better! Both on flounder and macks!
If you like flounder, yeah, they are a real pain in the ass to fillet. The mates can do it! After that, a little roll in flour, and into your fryer. Or if you got the time, a little butter, a sprinkle of bread crumbs and lemon. Put them in the good ole' oven and 28 minutes later! Yabba-Dabba-Dooohhh! My favorite if you only have little time. This is great, but as you know, all microwave ovens vary, 2 minutes on high, smoothered with butter and a little pepper. I'm tellin' yah! Flounder could be one of the best tasting food fish anywhere!
All day fishing was excellent today. There were only 37 anglers or more on board. So the spiny, cute sand sharks couldn't get control of the battlefield today. Instead, a great catch of nice cod and some nice pollock thrown in, made it worth being out there! The pollock are running around 12 to 18 pounds in size and the cod were 7 to almost 20 pounds on the top end!
PLENTY OF ROOM TOMORROW. ESPECIALLY, ON THE HALF DAY IN THE MORNING! — Capt. Rocky Gauron

HOLY CRAP! LOADED WITH FLOUNDER ON THE AM TRIP! Thursday 7-3-2008
You want flounder? They bit hard today. I saw bagfulls of flounder heading up the dock ramp at noontime today. MAcks too! But, everyone was looking for flat fish!
Allday today was good if you were one of the anglers that caught a few big pollock. It was too windy and rough to drift fish, so you know what a sitting duck is, a term perfect for today. Anchor the boat, lines down, a few big pollock, and then 15 minutes later. a hound attack. All in all, not so hot. Numbers of fish in the boat need to be triple of what was caught. I hope these sharks are this hungry when we start out shark encounter trips next Tuesday. — Capt. Rocky Gauron

IF IT'S JULY. WE ARE FISHING FOR FLOUNDER! Wednesday 7-2-2008
Our new targeted specie on the half day trips are flounder, this is going along with mackeral too. The AM trip had a good number of nice flounder, plus some macks. The afternoon trip was the same. Maybe not quite as many flounder as the AM trip, but, they had 3 strip bass landed and released. PLenty of room tomorrow.
No word from Junior yet. He had a back up Captain today, too. He was showing him all the tricks the Northern Star will try and pull on a new guy. Junior will take a day off once a week, so when the new guy feel comfortable with the boat, that will be good for Junior. The new guy has an excellent reputation for catching fish, many of you have fished with him in the past.

SUPER MARATHON WAS, YOU GUESSED IT. SUPER! Tuesday 7-1-2008
The size of the fish yesterday made it easy to fill up everything on the boat. Junior has some big fish boxex too! The biggest fish of the day was probably just over 20 pounds, but all the other fish were over 10 pounds and up. Good number of nice size cod and big pollock kept everyone pretty busy allday. There were some haddock and cusk, and yeah, them sharkie fish. But, it was a super day! — Capt. Rocky Gauron

COD, HADDOCK DECENT! PLENTY OF MACKS! Monday 6-30-2008
I don't know if I'll get the super duper marathon report on today. But, Capt Johnie aboard the White Star had the regularscheduled all day trip. They had pretty fair jig fishing today. Clam dunkers had their problems with the hounds, aka spiny sand sharks. But, over all it was a fair to good trip. Some anglers had 15 fish, mixed, cod, some pollock a few haddock, cusk, etc.

NICE, COD, HADDOCK, BIG POLLOCK, PLENTY OF MACKS! Sunday 6-29-2008
Sounds like a pretty good day. The allday trip had a big trip. Plenty of big pollock, by big, I talking 13 to 17 pounds, a great catch of nice cod, 8 to 18 pounds, with some closer to 20 pounds, and the haddock were around in great numbers too! Plus, the hounds were off their game today. They were a pain in the ass off and on, but clams did catch some nice cod and haddock. The bad news was for me, there were only 26 people on board the boat.
Half day trips produced just a few groundfish, but all the macks you could ever want. The afternoon, the halfday trips were in closer to land, catching alot of macks, checking out rumors of big stripers in close to land, and even some people were checking out the flounder. A real combo trip. MAcks, stripers and flounder. So far its been macks and a few flounder. No stripers as of 4:00pm. — Capt. Rocky Gauron
