Teachers, are you planning a class trip this
spring? If the answer is yes, please take the
time to read this!
Fishing is the No. 1 recreational sport, and whale
watching has exploded in recent years with people
becoming more aware of these giant, endangered species
living right off our New Hampshire coastline.
Our company in Hampton Beach, NH, is part of a
network of research boats from Cape Cod to the northern
part of Maine. All information gathered on every
whale watch is given to the Cetacean Research unit
in Gloucester, Mass. The scientists there pass it
on to other research projects around the world.
For a small fee, your group can adopt a whale with
your donation going to more research.
I hope you choose Al Gauron Deep Sea Fishing and
Whale Watching for your class trip. Our program
combines having a great time with learning!
We can arrange any type of trip your group may
require. Please feel free to call at any time with
questions.
Capt. Rocky Gauron

| Depart: |
Depart from Hampton Harbor, 1 Ocean Blvd.
-- across from Hampton Beach State Park. |
| How Far: |
Between 10 and 20 miles, depending on where
the whales are feeding and sightings occur. |
| Sightings: |
Last spring our fleet sighted humpback,
finback and minke whales, dolphins, large sharks, and
a variety of sea birds and marine life. Please keep
in mind that every trip is different. |
| Information: |
We have a marine biologist on board to answer
all your students' questions and give a complete narration
during the entire trip. |
| Weather: |
After picking your preferred date, we suggest
you also pick an alternate date. We will not take your
group out if we feel the ocean is too rough. When fog
is present, we fish the first half of the trip as the
fog usually lifts later in the day to permit whale watching.
|
| Safety: |
Our fleet consists of four, large owner-operated
boats that must pass strict Coast Guard safety inspections
twice a year. We have been operating safely since 1940.
|
| Fishing: |
In the past, we have been able to time our
school whale watch programs with the beginning of the
spring mackerel run. They are easy to catch when are
biting like they should. Mackeral are good eating, and
the crew will fillet and bag your catch for tips on
the ride home. |
| Food: |
All of our boats serve food, snacks and
soft drinks, or you are welcome to bring your own lunch.
|
| What to Bring: |
Jacket or sweatshirt, rubber-soled shoes,
camera and film. Food, snacks and beverages all |
